Description
What is the MT2 3x10mg Bundle?
The MT2 3x10mg Bundle is a composite reference set of three individually sealed vials containing freeze-dried MT2, each with a content of 10 mg. MT2 is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide, closed via a lactam bridge, with the sequence Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-NH2The compound bears CAS number 121062-08-6 and molecular formula C50H69N15O9 (approx. 1024 g/mol). All three vials contain the same material in the same specification; the set contains no deviating components and no additives.
The ring is formed by the covalent connection of the side chain of the aspartic acid residue and that of the lysine residue to form a lactam bridge; additionally, the chain carries norleucine at the N-terminal position, an acetyl group at the N-terminus, a C-terminal amide, and the D-enantiomer of phenylalanine within the ring. This combination of conformational restriction and non-canonical residues makes the chain significantly less susceptible to enzymatic degradation under laboratory conditions and yields a sharply defined chromatographic profile — properties that make MT2 a highly characterizable model compound in comparative peptide research. As a composite reference set with three units of equal origin and specification, the bundle lends itself to repeated analytical runs, where variation between partial measurements cannot be attributed to differences in the starting material.
Applications in a laboratory context
Within peptide chemistry and analytical work, MT2 occurs in the following in vitro research areas, among others:
- Structure-activity relationship research towards the contribution of the lactam bridge to the spatial organization of the chain, in which cyclic and linear sequences are placed side by side under identical conditions.
- Peptide chemistry research towards the dissolution and aggregation behavior of conformationally restricted peptides in aqueous and mixed media.
- Enzymatic stability studies in which the resistance of the closed ring to proteolytic degradation in vitro is compared against that of open chains with the same residue composition.
- Analytical method development and validation (HPLC, LC-MS, peptide mapping) where MT2 serves as the reference standard for retention time, exact mass, and fragmentation pattern; three units from the same batch make it possible to verify a method over consecutive runs.

Shape, handling and storage
The material is a freeze-dried powder (lyophilisate), white to off-white in color, filled in 10 mg units into a sealed glass vial with a butyl rubber septum and an aluminium shrink cap. Lyophilisates of this class are hygroscopic: absorbed moisture can cause the powder to clump together and affect the analytical baseline. The vials therefore remain closed until they are processed in the laboratory.
Store the unopened lyophilisate at 2–8 °C, in a dark and dry place, in the original packaging. Allow a refrigerated vial to reach room temperature before opening to limit condensation, and avoid repeated temperature changes. Furthermore, the usual laboratory precautions apply: a clean work surface, gloves and eye protection, and recording of the batch number and opening date in the lab journal. Because the set consists of three individually sealed units, the remaining material remains sealed while one vial is being worked on.
Analytical quality
For a cyclic chain with non-canonical residues, an unambiguous chromatographic profile is a prerequisite for reproducible analytical work: shortened sequences, ring-opening products, or residual solvents can obscure the interpretation of measurement results. Our MT2 is supplied with a purity of ≥ 99%, determined by HPLC analysis in accordance with the corresponding Certificate of Analysis. The available Certificates of Analysis can be viewed on our website. lab results page.
