Description
What is the MT1 5x10mg Bundle?
The MT1 5x10mg Bundle is a composite reference set of five individually sealed vials containing freeze-dried MT1, each with a content of 10 mg. MT1 is a synthetic linear tridecapeptide: a chain of thirteen amino acid residues with the sequence Ac-Ser-Tyr-Ser-Nle-Glu-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Gly-Lys-Pro-Val-NH2Structurally, the compound belongs to the N-terminally acetylated, C-terminally amidated peptides and is known by CAS number 75921-69-6 with the molecular formula C78H111N21O19 (approx. 1646.9 g/mol). The five vials contain the same material in the same specification.
Two targeted substitutions distinguish the molecule within its peptide class: norleucine at position 4 and the D-enantiomer of phenylalanine at position 7. These two modifications make the chain significantly less susceptible to enzymatic degradation under laboratory conditions, making MT1 a highly characterizable model compound in comparative peptide research and in analytical studies of sequence stability. In the form of a composite reference set containing five units of equal origin and specification, the material is suitable for repeated analytical runs and for method validation in which a method is verified across multiple series on identical starting material.
Applications in a laboratory context
Within peptide chemistry and analytical work, MT1 occurs in the following in vitro research areas, among others:
- Structure-activity relationship research to the contribution of the norleucine substitution at position 4 and of the D-phenylalanine residue at position 7 to the conformation and stability of a linear chain.
- Peptide chemistry research towards solubility and aggregation tendency of chains modified at both ends, including acetylation and amidation as variables.
- Enzymatic stability studies in which the degradation of the D-amino acid-containing chain is compared under controlled conditions with that of the fully L-configurative sequence.
- Analytical method development and validation (HPLC, LC-MS, peptide mapping) where MT1 serves as the reference standard for retention time, exact mass, and fragmentation pattern; five units from the same batch enable validation across multiple series.

Shape, handling and storage
Each unit consists of 10 mg of freeze-dried powder (lyophilisate), white to off-white in color, in a sealed glass vial with a butyl rubber septum and an aluminium shrink cap. The lyophilisate attracts moisture from the environment; this can lead to clumping and affect the analytical baseline. Therefore, a vial is only opened at the moment the material is processed in the laboratory.
Sealed vials are stored freeze-dried at 2–8 °C, in a dark and dry place, in the original packaging. Before opening, bring a refrigerated vial to ambient temperature to prevent condensation from forming on the powder, and keep the number of temperature changes as low as possible. The usual laboratory precautions apply: a clean work surface, gloves and eye protection, and recording of the batch number and opening date in the lab journal. Because the set consists of five individually sealed units, the remaining material remains unopened while work is being done on one vial.
Analytical quality
A clear chromatographic profile is a prerequisite for reproducible analytical work in a chain of thirteen residues with two non-canonical substitutions: shortened sequences, residual solvents, or degradation products can obscure the interpretation of measurement results. Our MT1 is supplied with a purity of ≥ 99%, determined by HPLC analysis in accordance with the accompanying Certificate of Analysis. The available Certificates of Analysis can be viewed on our website. lab results page.
