What is SLU-PP-332?

SLU-PP-332 is a synthetic small molecule from the acylhydrazine family and is not a peptide: it has no amino acid sequence, but a fixed-defined chemical structure with the molecular formula C₁₈H₁₄N₂O₂ and a molecular weight of approximately 290.3 g/mol. The compound is known by CAS number 303760-60-3 (PubChem CID 5338394) and bears the systematic name 4-hydroxy-N'-(naphthalene-2-ylmethylene)benzohydrazide.

The structure consists of a hydroxylated benzohydrazide unit connected to a naphthalene-2-yl group via a hydrazone bridge (C=N). Two properties make the substance suitable as reference material in analytical work: the extensive conjugate system of naphthalene ring and hydrazone bridge provides strong UV absorption, making detection with HPLC-UV simple and sensitive, and the low molecular weight yields a mass spectrum that is easy to interpret in LC-MS.
