Description
What is the MT2 5x10mg Bundle?
The MT2 5x10mg Bundle brings together five individually sealed vials of freeze-dried MT2 in one package, each containing 10 mg. MT2 is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide, enclosed by a lactam bridge, with the sequence Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-NH2, CAS number 121062-08-6 and molecular formula C50H69N15O9 (approx. 1024 g/mol). All five units contain the same material in the same specification, without deviating components or additives.
The cyclic nature of the compound is based on a lactam bridge between the side chain of aspartic acid and that of lysine: the chain is thereby fixed in a closed ring and loses a large part of its conformational freedom of movement. Additionally, norleucine at the N-terminal position and the D-enantiomer of phenylalanine within the ring contribute to the sequence's resistance to enzymatic degradation, while the N-terminal acetylation and the C-terminal amide cover the chain ends. A molecule with such a sharply defined structure yields a highly reproducible chromatographic profile and is therefore useful as a model compound in comparative peptide research. With five units of equal origin and specification, this composite reference set is tailored to longer-term measurement series and method validation in which successive runs must rely on identical material.
Applications in a laboratory context
Within peptide chemistry and analytical work, MT2 occurs in the following in vitro research areas, among others:
- Structure-activity relationship research regarding the influence of the non-canonical residues norleucine and D-phenylalanine on the spatial arrangement of the closed ring.
- Peptide chemistry research towards solubility, aggregation tendency, and purification behavior of cyclic chains with free side-chain functions in aqueous and mixed media.
- Enzymatic stability studies in which the degradation of the lactam closed ring is monitored chromatographically under controlled conditions.
- Analytical method development and validation (HPLC, LC-MS, peptide mapping) where five units from the same batch make it possible to capture retention time, exact mass, and fragmentation pattern across successive runs and to determine reproducibility between series.

Shape, handling and storage
Each unit consists of 10 mg of freeze-dried powder (lyophilisate), white to off-white in color, in a sealed glass vial with a butyl rubber septum and an aluminium shrink cap. The lyophilisate is hygroscopic; exposure to ambient moisture can lead to clumping and adversely affect the analytical baseline. For this reason, the vials remain closed until they are taken into processing in the laboratory.
The sealed lyophilisate should be stored at 2–8 °C, in a dark and dry place, in the original packaging. Allow a refrigerated vial to reach ambient temperature before opening to limit condensation on the powder, and limit temperature fluctuations. In addition, the usual laboratory precautions apply: a clean work surface, gloves and eye protection, and recording of the batch number and opening date in the lab journal. Of the five units, only one needs to be opened per measurement series; the others remain sealed.
Analytical quality
In the case of a conformationally restricted ring structure, an unambiguous chromatographic profile is a prerequisite for reproducible analytical work: ring-opening products, shortened sequences, or residual solvents can obscure the interpretation of measurement results. Our MT2 is supplied with a purity of ≥ 99%, determined by HPLC analysis in accordance with the corresponding Certificate of Analysis. The available Certificates of Analysis can be viewed on our website. lab results page.
