Beskrivelse

What is B7-33?

B7-33 is a synthetic peptide of 33 amino acids derived from the B-chain of human relaxin-2; the name refers to residues 7 to 33 of that chain. Whereas natural relaxin consists of two chains connected by disulfide bridges, B7-33 is a single-chain analog. This makes the compound significantly simpler and more stable to produce than the full hormone. Supplied as freeze-dried powder, 6 mg per sealed vial.

B7-33 binds to the RXFP1 receptor, the same receptor as relaxin-2, but with a different signal profile: the compound primarily activates the ERK pathway and the cAMP pathway much more weakly. This separate action makes B7-33 interesting in research as a tool to study the two signaling pathways of the same receptor independently.

What is B7-33 being investigated for?

Within controlled research environments, B7-33 is addressed in, among other things:

  • Receptor binding: affinity and activation of the RXFP1 receptor.
  • Signal selectivity: the preference for the CEFR route over the cAMP route, and what that distinction yields in cell models.
  • Connective tissue models: collagen deposition and matrix turnover in cultured fibroblasts.
  • Comparative study: the single-chain analog alongside complete relaxin-2.
  • Peptide chemistry: stability and solubility of the single-chain structure relative to the two-chain hormone.
  • Analytical reference: Calibration substance for peptide analysis via LC-MS.

It is important to emphasize that these applications take place exclusively within controlled research environments and that B7-33 is the subject of scientific research.
